Compliance starts in the first financial year beginning on or after the dates below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Group 1:<\/strong> 1 January 2025 \u2013 largest reporters (revenue \u2265 $500m; assets \u2265 $1b; employees &gt;500) or NGER reporters above the publication threshold.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Group 2:<\/strong> 1 July 2026 \u2013 medium\u2011large reporters (revenue \u2265 $200m; assets \u2265 $500m; employees &gt;250) and all other NGER reporters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Group 3:<\/strong> 1 July 2027 \u2013 mid\u2011sized entities (revenue \u2265 $50m; assets \u2265 $25m; employees &gt;100). Some may lodge simplified disclosures if they identify no material climate\u2011related risks or opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These dates matter because climate disclosures must be released simultaneously with the financial statements and cover the same reporting entity and period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the climate disclosures cover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Australia\u2019s requirements follow the AASB\u2019s climate\u2011related disclosure standards. Reporting spans:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Governance:<\/strong> how boards and management oversee climate risks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strategy:<\/strong> how climate risks and opportunities affect business models and plans.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Risk management:<\/strong> how risks are identified, assessed, and managed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Metrics and targets:<\/strong> what\u2019s measured and tracked over time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a significant step up from voluntary sustainability commentary.
